What We Do

Building Homes to End Homelessness

One example of Abode Services’ diverse and creative toolkit in ending homelessness is our housing development wing, Allied Housing.

Since 1994, Allied Housing has developed 173 units of permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless and very low-income households. Pictured above is one of our recent projects, Main Street Village Apartments in Fremont. It is the home of 110 adults and children, including 67 who had been homeless.

Our agency secures permanent homes for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. We apply the innovative Housing First approach to go beyond the temporary solutions that shelters and transitional housing programs offer.

We do whatever it takes to help our clients obtain and keep permanent housing, including:

  • working with landlords to open up the rental market
  • managing government rental assistance programs
  • providing case management services to ensure people can maintain housing
  • even building new housing stock (see right).

We specialize in partnering with local government, community groups, and foundations to realize the full potential of existing funding streams. Abode Services has even consulted for thought leaders like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on implementing Housing First solutions.
