Louis has been with Abode Services since 1992 and Executive Director since 1994. He is only the second Executive Director in the history of the organization. He has a Masters Degree in Social Work as well as a Masters Degree in Theology. Before coming to Abode Services he was youth director at Corpus Christi Church in Niles. |
Associate Director (510) 657-7409 ext. 212 In her role as Associate Director of Abode Services and Allied Housing, Vivian promotes affordable housing for those most at risk in our community - extremely low-income households and those with special needs. She oversees all of our programs and affordable housing developments, which keep over 1,000 people in homes each night. Vivian holds a Master’s degree in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley in the area of Management and Planning. Before coming to Abode Services in 2006, she worked extensively in the areas of homelessness, foster care, and community development, and is also a former Peace Corps Volunteer. She has devoted her career to assisting low-income people to succeed in their educational, health, and economic goals. |
Gay is responsible for the implementation and supervision of all Abode Services programs and fund development. She joined Abode Services in 2005, and brings her experience as Executive Director of Su Casa Domestic Abuse Network, Manager of Leadership Giving for United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and 23 years of business experience in public accounting and as a business owner. She holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Houston. |
Jose has been with Abode Services since 1989. He brings a wealth of accounting experience to the position and is widely acknowledged in the non-profit community to be an expert in non-profit accounting. |
Jean left the corporate world to join Abode Services in 1993. She has become a great advocate, speaking on behalf of the homeless at businesses, churches, schools and community groups. Jean works with the school districts to foster collaboration in addressing the education of homeless students and the need to enhance the academic after-school programs, and transportation on behalf of the children living in homeless shelters. Jean has recruited and enriched the volunteer program to well over 900 volunteers annually. |
Carol brings more than 20 years of development and fundraising experience to Abode Services. Her unique background includes experience with many local non-profits, state and city commissions and other civic organizations. She holds a certificate in Fund Raising Management from The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. |
Kara's dedicated advocacy for people with disabilities has been a common thread through her more than 15 years of non-profit work. Since joining Abode Services in 2005, she has worked to develop and expand programs serving individuals with disabilities or other potential barriers to remaining safely housed, including Greater HOPE FSP and Concord House. She is responsible for overseeing these programs, as well as the HOPE Project and Project Independence. Kara holds a degree in psychology from CSU Hayward. |
Director of Properties and Assets (510) 657-7409 ext. 223 Jon provides leadership to all housing activities at both Abode Services and Allied Housing, and supervises property management for existing properties and the project managers of Allied Housing’s housing developments. He is responsible for reviewing potential new project locations, submitting funding applications, interacting with design professionals and securing city entitlements, preparing RFP’s and selecting contractors, and assisting with problem solving during construction. Jon holds a Bachelor's in civil engineering from Calvin College in Michigan and practiced civil engineering for eleven years before joining Abode Services and Allied Housing in 2009.
